1. Purpose of this document

This document provides the manufacturer’s description of the intended purpose, essential functionalities, security properties, and foreseeable misuse scenarios of the Keenetic Roamer 5G (KN-5210). It supports cybersecurity assessment and conformity assessment activities in accordance with EN 18031 and other applicable European cybersecurity legislation.

2. Product identification and general description

The Keenetic Roamer 5G (KN-5210) is a portable 5G mobile router intended to provide broadband Internet connectivity over public mobile networks and local wireless network (WLAN) access for client devices. The product incorporates a 5G/LTE modem, Wi-Fi 6 radio interface, rechargeable battery and USB Type-C charging interface. It enables authorised wireless client devices to access the Internet through a mobile broadband connection.

3. Intended purpose

The device is intended to provide broadband Internet connectivity via public 5G and LTE mobile networks and to provide secure wireless network access for authorised client devices.

The product is intended to:

  • Establish Internet connectivity using public mobile communication networks;

  • Provide wireless local area network (WLAN) connectivity for authorised client devices;

  • Share mobile broadband connectivity between multiple wireless clients;

  • Support local administration and configuration; and

  • Support firmware maintenance using software provided by the manufacturer.

The product is intended for portable operation.

4. Security environment

The device operates using embedded firmware that integrates mobile broadband connectivity, wireless networking, management and security functions.

The product provides a security environment including:

  • Authenticated administrative access;

  • Wireless network security mechanisms;

  • Software update functionality;

  • Network address translation (NAT);

  • Firewall functionality; and

  • Diagnostic capabilities.

5. Essential functionalities

The essential functionalities of the product are:

  • Broadband Internet connectivity via public 5G and LTE mobile networks;

  • Wireless local area networking (Wi-Fi 6);

  • Sharing of mobile broadband connectivity between authorized wireless client devices;

  • IP routing and network address translation (NAT);

  • DHCP services for connected wireless clients;

  • Administration and configuration;

  • Software update and diagnostic functions.

6. Security properties

Keenetic Roamer 5G provides authenticated administrative access and configurable administrator password protection. Wireless communications are protected using WPA2/WPA3 security mechanisms supported by the installed firmware. The product incorporates firewall and network address translation (NAT) functions and restricts unsolicited inbound connections by default. Online and manual firmware update functionality is provided to maintain the device's security and operation.

7. Technical support

Technical support for the product is provided via the Keenetic support portal, through which users may obtain product information and request assistance from the technical support team. The support portal is intended to assist with the installation, commissioning, configuration, software maintenance, troubleshooting and ongoing operation of the product throughout its supported lifetime.

8. Security information

Security information for the product is provided through the product User Manual and related support resources. This information is intended to support the secure installation, configuration, administration, maintenance and use of the product throughout its supported lifecycle.

The security information includes guidance on secure initial configuration, administrator password management, wireless security configuration, firmware updates, recovery procedures, and secure operation of the device.

9. Foreseeable misuse and cybersecurity risks

Foreseeable circumstances and misuse scenarios that may lead to cybersecurity risks include:

  • Weak or reused administrator credentials, which may allow unauthorized access;

  • Use of outdated firmware without applying available security updates;

  • Use of weak wireless security settings;

  • Disclosure of the wireless network credentials to unauthorised users;

  • Exposure of internal services to external networks through misconfiguration;

  • Modification of security-related configuration settings;

  • Unauthorised use of the installed SIM card; and

  • Deployment in publicly accessible locations without adequate physical protection.

Such conditions may lead to risks including unauthorised access, data interception, service disruption, or misuse of network resources.
