1. Purpose of this document

This document provides the manufacturer’s description of the intended purpose, essential functionalities, security properties, and foreseeable misuse scenarios of the Keenetic PoE+ Adapter (KN-4510).

2. Product identification and general description

The Keenetic PoE+ Adapter (KN-4510) is a plug-and-play Gigabit Power over Ethernet injector for supplying Ethernet data and up to 30 W of electrical power through a single Ethernet cable to one compatible IEEE 802.3af/at device. It has one Gigabit LAN input for connection to an upstream router or switch and one Gigabit PoE output for connection to a powered device, such as a wireless access point, IP camera, or IP telephone. The adapter provides automatic PoE detection and requires no user configuration.

3. Intended purpose

The Keenetic PoE+ Adapter (KN-4510) is intended to provide Gigabit Ethernet data connectivity and electrical power through a single Ethernet cable to one compatible IEEE 802.3af/at powered device, such as a wireless access point, IP camera, or IP telephone. The adapter is intended to be installed between an upstream Ethernet router or switch and a compatible powered device where the upstream network equipment does not itself provide the required PoE or PoE+ power supply.

4. Security environment

The product is intended to be operated within a trusted or appropriately protected indoor Ethernet network. The upstream network connection must be protected by suitable network infrastructure, such as an appropriately configured router, gateway, or firewall, where protection against external or untrusted networks is required.

5. Essential functionalities

The product receives Ethernet data through its Gigabit LAN port, passes Ethernet data to a connected device through its Gigabit PoE port, supplies electrical power of up to 30 W through the PoE port to a compatible IEEE 802.3af/at device, automatically detects whether the connected device supports IEEE 802.3af/at PoE and supplies power only to a compatible device and indicates its power and PoE operating status through status LEDs.

6. Security properties

The adapter automatically detects compatible PoE devices and should supply power only to devices supporting IEEE 802.3af/at. This primarily protects connected equipment against inappropriate power delivery. Compliance with IEEE 802.3af/at supports interoperability and controlled negotiation of power requirements between the adapter as power-sourcing equipment and the connected powered device.

7. Technical support

Technical support for the product is provided via the Keenetic support portal, through which users may obtain product information and request assistance from the technical support team.

8. Security information

Security information for the product is provided through the product User Manual and related support resources.

9. Foreseeable misuse and cybersecurity risks

Foreseeable circumstances and misuse scenarios that may lead to cybersecurity risks include:

  • Unauthorised device substitution - A person with physical access could disconnect the legitimate powered device and connect another device to the PoE port.

  • Use with passive PoE or incompatible standards - Connecting equipment that requires another PoE implementation may result in non-operation or, depending on the equipment, damage.
