Installing the SIM Card and Battery

To use your Keenetic Roamer 4G (hereinafter ‘Mobile Hotspot’, ‘Keenetic device’), you need to install a valid, activated nano-SIM card with a data plan from your mobile operator. Use a SIM card without a PIN for quick setup.

Open the back cover. Gently slide and lift the hinged metal SIM card slot cover. Insert the SIM card into the slot as shown on the device label. Close the SIM card slot cover and slide it back to lock it in place. Install the battery and close the back cover.

Connecting to the Internet via Wi-Fi

Press and hold the Power Button i until a welcome message is displayed. From the Mobile Hotspot home screen, press the Select Button j and then the Power Button i to display the Wi-Fi settings. Use the Wi-Fi network name (Wi-Fi) and password (Pass) displayed on the screen to connect to your Mobile Hotspot. Alternatively, you can scan the QR code to automatically connect via Wi-Fi.

Connecting via USB

Roamer 4G supports USB tethering. This allows your computer or Keenetic router with a USB port to use the mobile network directly through a USB connection, with no drivers required.

1. USB Type-C Port

To charge the battery, use either a 5 W or higher USB-C charger, a USB port on your computer, or a power bank.

From your mobile hotspot’s home screen, you can view your connection and Wi-Fi status, data usage details, and more.

Battery status. When charging, the battery status has a connector icon on it. When the connector icon disappears, the Mobile Hotspot is fully charged.

3. Power Button i

Press to turn the display on or off, or to confirm a selection.

Press and hold for 6 seconds to turn the device on or off.

4. Select Button j

Press to switch between screens.

5. Nano-SIM Card Slot

Roamer 4G is SIM-unlocked for the best 4G offers. Use a SIM card without a PIN for quick setup.

6. Reset Button

Press and hold until a welcome message is displayed to restore factory settings and reset the administrator password.

Device Management

From a computer or mobile device connected to the Mobile Hotspot, open a web browser. Enter http://192.168.8.1. The Mobile Hotspot Web Interface appears. Enter the administrator login password. The default login is admin and the default password is the same as the Wi-Fi password displayed on the device’s Wi-Fi settings LCD screen.

Frequently Asked Questions

What should I do if I can’t access the Web Interface page?

  1. Make sure that your mobile device / computer is connected to your Keenetic device via Wi-Fi and set up to obtain an IP address and DNS servers automatically.

  2. Check that you have correctly entered the web address: 192.168.8.1.

  3. Reboot your mobile device / computer and your Keenetic device.

  4. If the Web Interface page still does not appear, please follow the instructions below to reset your Keenetic Mobile Hotspot.

What should I do if one of the following messages appears on the screen, or I cannot access the Internet?

  1. No SIM Card

    Power off the Mobile Hotspot and install a SIM card.

  2. SIM PIN Required

    Log in to the Web Interface page. Enter the PIN code provided by your mobile operator and click Apply.

    To disable future PIN code requests, enter the code again and click Apply.

  3. No Service

    1. Check that your SIM card is within your operator’s coverage area and has sufficient credit.

    2. Check that your operator parameters are correct. From a computer or mobile device, connect to your Mobile Hotspot and log in to its Web Interface. Go to Settings / Network Settings, select Manual profile to create a new profile with the correct information, then click Apply.

How do I reset/restore Keenetic’s original factory settings?

With the Mobile Hotspot turned on, remove the back cover, then press the Reset Button with a pin until a welcome message is displayed on the screen.

  • Keep your Keenetic device away from water, excessive moisture or heat, and direct sunlight.

  • Your Keenetic device contains no user-serviceable parts. Do not disassemble, repair or modify the device.

  • Do not use the device where wireless devices are not permitted.

  • There is a risk of explosion if the battery is replaced with the wrong type.

This device complies with EU radiation exposure limits set forth for an uncontrolled environment. The frequency and the maximum transmitted power for your device, per the requirements of the EU are:

4G/3G: Band 1 (1920–1980 MHz), Band 3 (1710–1785 MHz), Band 7 (2500–2570 MHz), Band 8 (880–915 MHz), Band 20 (832–862 MHz), Band 28 (703–748 MHz), Band 38 (2570–2620 MHz): 23 dBm ± 2.7 dB.

Wi-Fi: 2400–2483.5 MHz: 20 dBm. This device can be used across EU member states.

Disposal

In accordance with European directives, your Keenetic device, including the battery and cables, may not be disposed of with general household waste. Consult your local authority or your supplier for information about disposal.
